Creating an Estimate Template

Once you have created a complete estimate, you may want to save the estimate as a custom template.

Save an estimate as a custom template:
1. Open Estimating and go to File > Open.
2. Select the document you want to save as a template and click Open.
3. Go to File > Save As.
4. Name the template.
In the Save as type drop down menu, select Template.
The default and recommended save location will be the Custom Templates folder inside the My Projects directory. You may change this location is desired.
5. Click Save.
6. A copy of the estimate is now saved as a custom template. The normal estimate still exists in its original location.

Create a new estimate from a custom template:
1. Open Construction Office, click the My Projects button on the toolbar and select Custom Templates.
2. Double-click the template you want to open. A copy of the template will open as a normal estimate.
3. Go to File > Save. Name the estimate and save it to the appropriate project folder.
4. Edit the estimate as needed for the new project. Any changes will affect only this estimate. The estimate template will not be changed and will still be available in Construction Office and in Estimating.

Permanently modify a custom estimate template:
1. Open Construction Office, click the My Projects button on the toolbar and select Custom Templates.
2. Right-click the template you want to modify and select Open.
3. Edit the estimate template as needed. Any changes you make will affect the custom template. This means every new estimate created from the custom template will reflect these changes, but estimates previously created from the custom template will not be affected.
4. Go to File > Save.
